What makes i-Labs testing stand out?

i-Labs is the only lab in the U.S. authorized to use T cell Elispot and Functional Immune Cell Flow Cytometry assays, delivering precise, actionable immune profiling.

Our testing stands out for its ability to stage infections accurately, identifying active infections, assessing their severity, evaluating immune response appropriateness, and detecting T cell exhaustion in chronic cases. By providing detailed insights into immune dynamics, i-Labs empowers healthcare providers to craft tailored treatment strategies, improving outcomes for patients.

What is included in each kit?

Inside each blood test kit is an order form with payment and blood draw instructions, four blood collection tubes, and an overnight return bag for domestically shipped kits.
Please fill the order form out legibly and read through all blood draw instructions.

*While the blood test kit is our most commonly used collection method, other kit types are also available. Please review the instructions carefully for each kit to ensure proper handling.

How many kits are needed per person?

One blood test kit is all that is needed per person, regardless of the amount of testing being ordered.

*While the blood test kit is our most commonly used collection method, other kit types are also available. Please review the instructions carefully for each kit to ensure proper handling.

How do I create a provider account?

Creating a provider account and placing an order is a simple and free two-in-one process.
Accounts are listed as the full name of a clinic. Any provider at that clinic can order testing under the clinic’s account.

How do I place an order?

Physicians are encouraged to place the order for their patient. If you are a provider and would like to place an order, simply click here

I am a patient, can I place the order for myself?

If a clinic has requested a patient order on their own behalf, please contact us at info@i-labs.us or call 651-387-2614 and we will gladly assist you.

We cannot accept orders from the general public interested in ordering without their provider, at this time. If you are interested in our testing, please consult with your physician.

How do I choose testing?

A licensed healthcare professional should evaluate history and symptoms to determine the most appropriate testing.
As a diagnostic laboratory, our role is to process the orders we receive from providers. We are unable to make testing recommendations, interpret symptoms, or discuss results directly with patients. If you are a patient, please direct all questions regarding your care to your healthcare provider.

If you are a licensed healthcare professional, we would be happy to set up a 1:1 consultation with you.
Contact us at info@i-labs.us with your clinic name and state, as well as your information and we will have your territory representative connect with you.

Please note these consultations are intended for provider training purposes only and are not available to patients.

Is fasting required?

Fasting is not required for our blood kit testing.

*While the blood test kit is our most commonly used collection method, other kit types are also available. Please review the instructions carefully for each kit to ensure proper handling.

Is stopping medication required?

Medications should not be stopped unless directed by the ordering physician. Any questions about medications should be discussed with the patient’s healthcare provider.

Where can a patient get their blood drawn?

Some clinics draw onsite or have recommendations of locations for their patients.
If a patient is in need of a blood draw location, we recommend they read the instructions on the order form before scheduling an appointment and contact the blood draw location of their choice to ensure they can be accommodated.

Which blood collection tubes need to be filled?

Please fill all tubes completely to help ensure accurate processing and avoid errors.

My patient is unable to fill all tubes due to health reasons, what can we do?

We request all tubes are filled completely, as it greatly reduces the risk of errors. However, we understand this may not be possible for some individuals.

We offer many tests that are completed through a variety of methods including our ELISPOT platform, which is unmatched and offers providers clinical insight in real time. This is the method used for the majority of our testing. Our ELISPOT testing is processed with the multiple ACD/yellow top tubes provided in each kit. If you are ordering only tests completed with the ELISPOT method, you may choose to fill only the ACD/yellow top tubes provided. It is still recommended to fill both ACD/yellow top tubes completely to ensure we are able to process your order.

To know if your submission only requires the ACD/yellow top tubes for processing, check the paper order form included in your kit to see where your test is listed. The following sections highlighted in blue above tests/panels can be processed with only the ACD/yellow top tubes being filled. The remaining EDTA/purple top and Serum Separator/red and black top tubes can be shipped back empty.

  • T Cell ELISPOT Lyme & Co-Infection
  • T Cell ELISPOT Fungal & Lung Infections
  • T Cell ELISPOT Viral Infections
  • Long Haul Viral
  • T Cell ELISPOT IFN-y & IL-2

If your order is for or includes any testing listed in the following sections below, all tubes should be completely filled.

  • Cytokines
  • Functional Immune Cell Flow Cytometry
  • Telomere PCR
  • Food Intolerance

I am the phlebotomist, do I have to centrifuge the Serum Separator tube?

It is recommended to centrifuge the Serum Separator tube, as standard.
However, if a phlebotomist does not have access to a centrifuge, we are able to complete this step upon the sample’s arrival.
You do not need to indicate whether a sample was centrifuged or not.

Can additional tests be added?

If a sample has not yet been shipped to us, additional tests can typically be added.
If additional tests have been discussed between the patient and provider, simply check off any additional testing you would like our lab to process on the order form included in each kit. The kit has everything needed to process any blood testing ordered, including multiple tests.

If your kit has already been submitted, adding additional tests is unlikely.

Our advanced methods allow us to capture precise immune responses in real time in order to understand what is happening right now.
This is different from traditional testing or frozen samples because it requires live immune cells. Samples are only viable for up to 48 hours, and once testing begins, those cells are carefully activated in a controlled process. We are happy to ship another kit out, upon order.

How do I interpret results?

If you are a licensed healthcare professional interested in our testing, we are happy to schedule a 1:1 complimentary consultation.
Contact us at info@i-labs.us to have your territory representative connect with you.

Please note these consultations are intended for provider training purposes only and are not available to patients. All patients should contact their provider with any questions.

How do I access results?

As soon as results are ready, we send results to the ordering clinic via their Provider Portal, located on our website.
Providers are able to access completed results via the Provider Portal at any time. Portal access is for clinic personnel only.

If you have set up your portal and would like to access it, click here.

If you are a patient, we recommend following up with your provider if you have questions.

How long do results take?

Results typically take 5-7 business days and are always sent to the ordering clinic via the Provider Portal upon completion.
Providers may then need time to review and interpret results. Patients should follow up with their provider about results and any related questions.

Why does a negative result still show a number instead of zero?

A low-level response can happen for several reasons.
This does not confirm past infection, both low numbers and zero are considered normal in negative results.

What is the cost?

i-Labs offers many different testing options, including individual tests and cost-saving panels.
We provide standard pricing directly to clinics, but each clinic may handle billing differently.
Some have patients pay us directly, while others include our testing as part of a broader service package. For that reason, we recommend all pricing is confirmed directly between a clinic and their patients.

When do I pay?

We do not charge for testing costs if we are unable to process the submitted specimen.
For this reason, payment is collected on the form in each kit we ship. This keeps payment information with the submitted specimen. Fill the form out in its entirety.

If your requisition form shows “Credit Card on File” where payment information is requested, the ordering clinic has elected to handle the financial portion themselves. This means patients pay the clinics directly and should contact them if they have payment questions.

Do you offer discounts?

We understand every individual’s testing needs are unique. That’s why we offer both individual tests and panels that combine multiple assays at a reduced cost. Panels can be a more efficient and cost-effective option when evaluating multiple pathogens or immune responses. All pricing should be confirmed directly between each clinic and their patients.

Below are some of the options we offer. The full list of panels is available on our requisition form.

  • Panel #3072 (Lyme & Bartonella T Cell ELISPOT)
This panel combines the following two tests, run the same method, but at a more cost effective price:

#3103 (Bartonella henselae IFN‑γ & IL‑2) and

#3031 (Borrelia spp. IFN‑γ & IL‑2, covering B. burgdorferi, B. afzelii, and B. garinii)

  • Panel #3088 (Lyme, Co-Infection, & Viral 3 T Cell ELISPOT)
A comprehensive panel combining 11 tests targeting Lyme disease, co-infections, and viral exposures, with the largest value of savings.
  • Panel #3140 (Covid Long Haul Expanded T Cell ELISPOT)
Combines five tests commonly run together by providers, at a significantly reduced price

i-Labs Glossary

Immune System Basics: These terms explain how your body fights infection and how testing can measure those responses.

Types of Lab Tests: ELISPOT, ELISA, Western Blot, PCR, Flow Cytometry

Each of these tests provides a unique window into how the immune system is currently responding—or has responded—to infection.

ELISPOT (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSpot): A highly sensitive test that detects and counts how many T cells are reacting to specific infections in real time.
Best for: Tracking active immune responses, immune memory, or recovery phases.
Common terms associated with ELISPOT testing:

Test Result Terminology for ELISPOTS: Understanding what results mean and what they show about an immune status.

ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay): Detects antibodies in the blood that indicate past or recent exposure.
Best for: Verifying if someone has previously been infected.
Common terms associated with ELISA testing:

Western Blot: Confirms the presence of specific antibodies and adds specificity to ELISA results.
Best for: Confirmatory testing (e.g., for Lyme disease).
Common terms associated with Western Blot testing:

PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction): Detects the DNA or RNA of a pathogen directly.
Best for: Confirming an active infection.
Common terms associated with PCR testing:

Functional Immune Testing (via Flow Cytometry): Assesses how efficiently immune cells function under stimulation.
Best for: Evaluating immune competence, aging, or chronic activation.
Common terms associated with Immune Testing:

Types of Infection: These terms describe how viruses or infections behave in the body.
